CLINIC (GRADES 1-2)

Clinic teams are single sex and organized by grade. Clinic 6 is for first graders and Clinic 7 is for second graders. GCVSA will try to place schoolmates on various teams. While it’s possible your child will already know someone from the same school, GCVSA believes that socialization is an important aspect of playing on a team. Late registrations will be placed where there is space on a team.  We will do our best to accommodate Friend Requests, however, preference will be given to early registrants.  We cannot guarantee Friend Requests for Late Registrants.

Program Information

  • Each game consists of two 25 minute halves. Each team will have 6 players and a goalie out on the field

Uniforms and Equipment

  • GCVSA uniforms consist of socks, shorts and a jersey
  • Players are required to wear their uniform and shin guards for all games
  • Players should bring a water bottle and a size 3 soccer ball
  • Cleats or turf shoes are recommended but not required
  • In colder weather, players may wear a long sleeve shirt or sweatshirt under the jersey, however, hoods must be tucked under the jersey

CLINIC 6:  Coaches are referees

  • Coaches be on the field to coach and be referees.
  • The players must have shin guards, cleats are optional
  • Games are 20 minute halves. If the game is going well and the kids are happy play for 25 minute halves
  • No off sides, substitute at will; corner kicks are OK. Teach the proper throw-in. Teach the players not to toe the ball.
  • #3 ball. Have a team donate the best ball for the game ball. Even though US soccer doesn’t want goalies, if it makes more fun have one goalie and 4 field players.
  • If a team is short players share players or play less players
  • Above all MAKE IT FUN! The idea is to make sure everybody plays.

NO REFEREES FOR CLINIC 6

No Coaches or parents are allowed on the field for the following Divisions.

CLINIC 7:

  • The players must have shin guards, cleats are optional
  • Games are 25 minute halves
  • No off sides, both sides can substitute with stoppage of game. Corner kicks, teach the proper throw-in let the player try two times. If they don’t do it the second time let it go.
  • #3 ball. Have a team donate the best ball for the game ball. Even though US soccer doesn’t want goalies, it makes more fun have one goalie and 4 field players. Therefore 5 players at a time.
  • The goalie can punt the ball or throw it, the ball cannot go past the midfield line on the fly. If it does the other team gets the ball.
  • If a team is short of players share players or play less players

Above all MAKE IT FUN! The idea is to make sure everybody plays.
